Rosita, Mexicana Style by Robert Valadez

Pilsen artist Robert Valadez has just finished a striking new piece, part Rosie the Riveter and part Chica con Mexicana that captures a different aspect and spirit of the Mexican American experience.

In case you wondered what the old Rosie the Riveter looked like:

Rosa Anna and I saw his work while in progress back in mid June. It’s always fascinating to see a piece while it is worked on, and then to see it in completion. I understand that Nicole Marroquin, adjunct professor of art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, will be doing a write up to describe the piece for Robert’s website.

Currently Rosita is available as a limited edition Giclee framed print on canvas at $800 dollars each. The original painting is priced at $7,500.
