Chicago Obama Rally

For those who missed the event on television, I wanted to share a few videos about this truly historic, uplifting and exciting moment.

This was from CNN, posted by presidentialvote. Even if you did watch the event, this is worth second watch: Barack Obama’s historic speech after being elected the President Elect of the United States of America.

This one is from WGN, Chicago’s largest local radio network (WGN Radio – Inside the Barack Obama Rally Part 2).

WGN Radio – Outside the Obama Rally at Grant Park where John Williams interviews people on the street.

A pan of the event attendees at the moment his win was announced by bjakec:

Change is so in the air!

i remember

i remember when
we were excluded
could not participate
in the country we lived and loved
african americans
asian americans
latino americans
native americans
from
opportunities
jobs
housing
education

when one drop of black blood made you not equal but more eligible to work without wage
without rights of inheritance
when being asian american meant you could never vote
you could not be a citizen
you would lose your homes and all that you have earned
when being latino meant the lands of your ancestors
now made you a foreigner
without citizenship
you would never be count
when being native american meant you could no longer speak your language
your way of life forever changed
unable to live and travel the nation that was once yours
safely

i remember
when all people of color were considered
less than equal
without power
without voice
without hope
diminished

i remember when i helped elect the impossible dream
the 44th president of the united states of america
a black man who speaks for all of us
a man who brings light
a man who brings hope
who reflects our past
who reflects our present
who is now our future
i remember

I remember, a poem written by Luz Justica in honor of one of our nation’s most historic events on the eve of November 4, 2008.
