Where did One Time go?

Okay, so maybe it took me three weeks to realize he’s GOA, but I’ve been a very busy girl. Ironically most of my busy life has been stuck in front of one of several computers, but not online for fun. Computer maintenance, system upgrades, system downgrades, software application changes, upgrades, etc. have been filling my schedule, in between bouts of being sick. Two days ago I received a note from one of my fellow blogging friends asking me if I’ve seen One Time’s blog lately. That would be at http://www.peppersprayme.com/ for anyone who had been one of his readers.

One Time and I would, intermittently, have a flurry of emails going back and forth. OT was interesting, not only because of his blog stories but use of technology. It wasn’t just his use of a custom designed template, his promotion of his blog online and quite frequently via Blog Catalog and Twitter, but his anonymity. Within my own group of online blog buddies, there are several people with whom I correspond fairly regularly, and on occasion I might even know what they look like. I’ve met other bloggers who are local, in person. OT never divulged his name, and refused to tell us where he was located, although some of us had our theories, which could never been derived from analyzing out blog statistics. If OT is reading this, I’m sure he’s smiling since he worked so hard, apparently using an IP spoofer to stay very anonymous.

His Twitter account is gone, his FaceBook account is still intact for now. His website isn’t completely gone, since a GOA page can still just be a new default page with or without the website intact, but the mystery remains…

When you’re back from your adventure, I know I’m not the only person looking forward to your return.

Lincoln Square Food and Indie Arts Fest

Rarely do I have a Saturday free, but today was an exception!! And as good fortune would have it, the weather was beautiful. Friend Peter met me at Cafe Selmarie, where we both had the chicken pot pie. The pastry on top is very flaky, and the chicken and veggies are in a creamy, decadently delicious sauce. It was too hot to eat when it was first served…
Breaking the crust to free the heat helped expedite matters. The small pearl onions were very tasty and the chicken pieces were generous and perfectly seasoned.
Amazingly Peter was still hungry, so he ordered a piece of cheesecake. I think I gained weight just looking at it.
Next we proceeded to May Fest. I snapped photos as we walked, and this one is a gem, as you can see an older man with good posture and elegantly dressed for a Saturday afternoon. He reminds me of a the past, when you’d hear how people dressed nicely on the weekends as they’d take a stroll. And here I thought I was dressed nice because I didn’t have a tee shirt on, but a blouse!!
We arrived before the huge crowds, which I had to wade through on my return from the second part of our Saturday outing. Here we are entering the game area. There was another area where the smell of brats and sauerkraut permeated the air, as well as German music. It’s interesting to hear anything with an “oomph paa” because it reminds me of Banda music, which is Mexican music that derived from the Austrian influences of King Leopold (over Mexico).
Here’s Peter’s arm as he goes for the red (the “big prize”). No prizes for Peter but he did have a blast.
Here are more prizes….
The guy in the grey t-shirt had incredible focus, and won a little stuffed animal for his daughter next to him. She was thrilled: she had fun and she got a prize thanks to her pops!
Here are more game vendors.
Now we’re getting in big game rewards territory!
I just loved this shot! There’s something about multiple series of Tweety Birds all facing you that have to make you smile.
And no, this isn’t my boyfriend!! Isn’t he cute though!??
We looked for the Maypole but never saw it!! The MayFest wasn’t very big, and since neither of us were up for beer and brats, we headed on the Brown Line to Southport to go to the Indie Arts Fest at Schubas. There were a lot of local artists in a small room, which made it cozy. I saw some interesting pieces there. One artist had done spiral notebooks, which I would have bought for my next class except there were no lines. I tend to write upwards, so I need lines to keep me, uh, grounded.
Friend Cindy had her exhibit too, and we chatted for awhile and then moved on. Then I saw Suzy Paloozie’s bags!! OOOOH, how fun!!! She uses interesting prints, “not quite subtle” but at the same time, not loud. They looked well made, and I did need a bag for my class so I there you go! I love the turquoise button!!
Last but not least, we hit Ethel’s Chocolate Lounge. I had their banana and chocolate shake, which was delish and as good as the one I had at Julius Meinl. I also picked up some chocolate for el novio, and chocolate covered pretzels. He’s such a chocoholic!! At least this way I know I won’t eat everything up myself.
